Janelle has been a safety consultant for almost twenty years, specialising in chemical and process safety. Janelle has provided advice to regulators and industry through multiple changes in the regulation of hazardous chemicals in Australia. Her experience spans a diverse range of industries, from the manufacture of explosives, pharmaceuticals, paint, fertilisers, ginger beer, and rum; to the safe management of chemicals in the maintenance of aircraft and missiles as well as weed and pest control in National Parks.

Janelle’s knowledge and expertise has grown out of her original interest as a graduate chemical engineer in preventing major accidents in the process industries, and then her subsequent studies in toxicology. However, she is indebted to NSCA, where she found her feet as a consultant, for exposing her to the practical everyday realities of managing chemical risks.
